1. Each year, SFC will present a roster of films. During the first year the roster consists of 18 feature films. Each subsequent year the roster is expected to increase by 15 titles.
2. The university or cultural institution chooses a minimum of five films from this roster. Ideally, the selected films are screened for five weeks.
3. The exhibition fee for each feature film is $500. As such, the minimum cost of each festival is $2,500.
4. The university or cultural institution may apply for a grant to cover half the cost of the basic-level festival. The maximum grant amount an organization can apply for is $1,250. The university or cultural institution is responsible for raising the additional funds. Each organization can apply only once every year. Once the films have been selected, the university or cultural institution submits the application form in which an explanation of the program is provided, along with details of the promotional activities that will take place on campus, departments involved in the activities, as well as the anticipated audience. Additional information about the festival and parallel activities related to cinema in Spanish are strongly encouraged.
5. The festivals can be presented as independent, stand-alone festivals, or as part of a larger festival featuring films from other countries.
6. The grant application deadline is March 15. EXTENDED DEADLINE: APRIL 1, 2012.
7. Once awarded the grant, the university will also have access to the continued support of the SFC staff. A dedicated full-time person (administrator) is in charge of the management of SFC. Responsibilities include application processing, authorizations, material approvals as well as ongoing personalized support for your university. Once everything is set, the administrator will provide you with a security code that the university will use to access the films in streaming mode. Our dedicated person is Daniela Bajar and you can contact her via e-mail: info@spanishfilmclub.com.
8. After the festival, the university or cultural institution submits a report of results.
9. Those university or cultural institution that are not awarded a grant can still have their festival at full price. The procedure is more simple: they just need to fill out the application form at least one month in advance.
