For anyone who loves Spanish cinema, this selection of recent award-winning films offers a diverse, up to the minute look at the great talents at work today.
The selections include Jaime Rosales’ Solitary Fragments, winner of Goya Awards for Best Film and Best Director; this year’s Spanish Oscar submission, Gracia Querejet’s Seven Billiard Tables; Rafa Cortes’ Me, winer of the Critic’s prize at the Rotterdam Film Festival; Iciar Bollain’s (Take My Eyes) Mataharis, winner of numerous international screenplay awards; Albert Serra’s Cannes Film Festival celebrated Nativity extravaganza Birdsong; José Luis Guerin’s (En Construccion) Venice Film Festival hit IiIn Sylvia's city; Félix Viscarret’s Under the stars, Goya winner for Best Screenplay; Carles Bosch’s (Balseros) moving documentary Spetembers; and Shortmetraje—a collection of daring short films.
In a first-rate ensemble of vibrant, polemical, artful and ecclectic films, Pragda is happy to offer for the first time to American audiences a variety of styles that range from drama to comedy and experimentation. Enjoy!
