Isaki Lacuesta
Spain / 2006 / 106 min. / Spanish with English subtitles
In the hands of chance, Lacuesta devotes himself to the life and work of the late, internationally revered flamenco singer Camarón de la Isla. Lacuesta splits the film into two back-to-back, tangentially related sub-stories that never intersect. Two complementary or contradictory sides: Camarón’s before and after, reality and myth, documentary and fiction. Cravan vs. Cravan revealed to us a director of unquestionable talent. The Legend of Time goes far beyond. It is the confirmation that we are before a superlative young Spanish filmmaker, the most promising of all.
Isaki Lacuesta, studied Audiovisual Communication at the University Autonoma de Barcelona and graduated in the first edition of the Masters in Creative Documentary at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. His first film, Cravan vs Cravan 2002, was awarded in several international festivals. The Spanish critics recognized him as the best debut of the year. For his part, La legend of time in 2006 was presented in the official Rotterdam International Film Festival, Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival, Paris Cinema, Yerevan Film Festival (Armenia), among others. Both films have been released in movie theaters Spanish. His last film Los pasos dobles, has been awarded in San Sebastian International Film Festival with Golden Seashell.
