Isaki Lacuesta
Spain / 2002 / 100 min / Spanish with English subtitles
Isaki Lacuesta’s debut documentary, Cravan vs. Cravan, spins a riveting hour and a half out of the strange life and stranger death of the marginal figure of Oscar Wilde’s descendant Arthur Cravan- the early 20th-century poet, boxer and Dadaist who made his life his art. The stranger-than-fiction raw material is greatly compelling, and the successful intersection between reality and fiction makes of this film one of the most risky exercises of documentary making produced in Spain.
Isaki Lacuesta, studied Audiovisual Communication at the University Autonoma de Barcelona and graduated in the first edition of the Masters in Creative Documentary at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. His first film, Cravan vs Cravan 2002, was awarded in several international festivals. The Spanish critics recognized him as the best debut of the year. For his part, La legend of time in 2006 was presented in the official Festival Rotterdam International Film Festival of The Palms (Special Jury Prize for Best Film), Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival, Paris Cinema, Yerevan Film Festival (Armenia), among others. Both films have been released in movie theaters Spanish. His last film Los pasos dobles, has been awarded in San Sebastian International Film Festival with Golden Seashell.
