Elena Trapé
Spain / 2010 / 90 min. / Spanish and Catalan with English subtitles
Blog is the surprising tale of a group of teenagers, 15 year-old middle-upper class girls who are well educated, smart, sensitive and savvy. A group of youngsters with a secret plan and a shared purpose, something they believe to be an absolute goal and a universal truth: the need to experience strong emotions to set them apart from the rest. Trapé uses non-professional actresses and improvisation techniques to carry out a fake documentary that captures, with a precision unseen in Spanish cinema, the inner feelings of teenagers.
Degree in Art History from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, she also holds a Master’s in Cultural Management and graduated from the ESCAC (Escuela Superior de Cine y Audiovisuales de Cataluña) in 2004. No quiero la noche was her graduation film and first short in 35mm, and Pijamas, her second. In 2008, she shot La ruïna, her first TV-movie, nominated best film for television at the Gaudí Awards 2010. Blog is her directorial debut. She combines her work as a teacher at the ESCAC with directing commercials for the Tesauro production company.
